Kayak 4 Conservation [Abu Dhabi]

Kayak through the mangroves of Abu Dhabi and fish out the trash you see.

About the Activity

Did you know: Mangroves can store up to 4 times more carbon than tropical forests. By restoring mangroves to good health, we also restore our local biodiversity. Afterall, mangroves are home to endangered species of turtles, seabirds, sharks and rays.

Unfortunately, mangroves and their inhabitants are facing numerous challenges, one of which is litter. Let’s do our part to protect them!

On this guided kayak tour, participants will learn about mangrove ecosystems, collect and remove litter, and geo-tag data around litter to inform national policies on single-use plastic.

Who can participate?

This session is open to all Champions of Change.  Young children will require supervision. Please note this activity will require moderate physical exertion while kayaking.

Which area of Impact does it contribute to?

We must sustain our mangroves, so they can sustain us.

With your help, we can achieve and surpass our objective to:

  • Understand the source of plastic waste and analyse 2,000 kg of litter to support a policy on single-use plastics and help create a thriving circular economy in the UAE.
  • Reduce plastic leakage into nature by 50% by 2030.

Join the mission to Lose the Litter.

It was a nice and informative experience. The organizers were very helpful. Being in direct contact with nature specially after covid-19 is something really needed.

Please note that events may be cancelled or rescheduled due to updated safety guidelines from the government. We will try our best to keep you informed of any changes as early as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.
