Course objectives

  • Introduction to global food production and value chains, and how they impact access to different types of food in in the UAE
  • Introduction to Agro-Ecology and other solutions to increase efficiency of global food and water production, supply and value chains – and how they solutions ripple into global markets
  • Exploration of the roles of Sustainable Diets and Mindful Water Consumption in biodiversity conservation.
  • Understanding of the high priority food-energy-water nexus – how it is linked to energy production and how it impacts the climate

Learning outcomes

  • Deepen understanding of the impact of food and water production, on natural resources and energy consumption
  • Contribute to solutions around the food-water-energy nexus, such as more effective management of consumption and resources
